Fran Crippen Elevation Foundation

It's been just over a week since an outstanding young man was taken from his family, friends, and the swimming community.

Funeral services for Fran Crippen were held yesterday in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. Read more here.

An hour before Fran Crippen's funeral was set to start at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Conshohocken on Saturday, the receiving line stretched 2 1/2 blocks. The church, which holds 750 people, was already full, and people were standing along the sides and back.

It was a testament to the charisma of a young athlete who, speakers said, touched people with both his competitive spirit and his infectious friendliness.

It is the family's wish that you remember Francis Crippen by becoming part of the Fran Crippen Elevation Foundation.

Nightmare in UAE

That's the only way to describe it. What a nightmare!

The unthinkable has happened at a World Cup 10k in the United Arab Emirates.

Team USA open water superstar Fran Crippen died during a race - a race swum in very warm water.

Swimming World has been updating the story all day. Read their latest post here.

Man has an invincible inclination to allow himself
to be deceived and is, as it were, enchanted with
happiness when the rhapsodist tells him epic
fables as if they were true, or when the actor in
the theater acts more royally than any real king.

Swim with the sharks?

You probably do - without even thinking about it.

Leon caught this 5'7" bull shark on casted bait from the beach down at Padre Island National Seashore during Sharkathon 2010.
